Should I Get A Kindle?
Should I buy a Kindle? Is it worth the money? Well here's my honest review😁
To buy... or not to buy... The age old question every on-budget girlie will keep asking. Especially when it comes to fulfilling hobby needs. So if you're planning on buying an E-reader (kindle, Kobi, etc) here's my personal insight. I myself own a Kindle, why was this the E-reader of choice for me?
- it's linked to my Amazon account and there's usually many promo and deals there
- Kindle Unlimited👌 --> it's an Amazon subscription service, much like Netflix or Hulu but for books.
- It's been around longer than most E-reader devices, so there was a lot more reviews I can refer to when researching which one to buy.
- reasonable price for the quality ($135.000)
- a huge variety of cases compared to other devices
So in the end I bought the Kindle Oasis. It's slightly superior to the paperwhite (have a turning button, better screen, metal body). Thought compared to the paperwhite the oasis is a tad bit heavier, but not a huge deal breaker tbh. I might get more into the different types of kindle in another post but for now back to reasons why you should own this niche piece of electronic. I called it niche because honestly if you don't read a lot of book ("a lot" is subjective btw), it's a waste of money for you. I like to apply the BEP (Break-Even Point) Concept.
So in a nutshell, the price of kindle must be > the amount of money you spend on books.
And also how long till you finally get your moneys worth.
So lets do a little math class shall we:
If 1 book cost around $13 - $15 (paperback), and 1 e-book cost around $5 - $6
the device itself cost $135
- $135/$15 = 9 Books and you'll get BEP on your device
- for every 1 paperback book that you bought, you could get 2 instead if you buy an e-book format.
- Basically, you need to read about >2 books per month if you really want to get your moneys worth
- And not to mention there's e-book promo where it can go to as low as $2, and there's also sites which over free e-book!!
So that's from a price standpoint, but then you'll say "well I can just read it on my phone, what difference does it make?" WELL....here' another list for you (If you can tell by now I prefer to list things lol)
- E-Ink --> they don't have backlit screen (instead it's Front-lit screen) which can strain the eye after a long time. It also makes it easier to read under the sun or under direct light because it doesn't gives a lot of reflection.
- Warm light setting --> for those who enjoys night reading then this feature is your bestfriend. It's a warm amber light setting so it's perfect for reading in the dark.
- Battery saving --> This my personal Favorite. The batter can last up to 1 week after one full charge, if you use it for around 4-5 hours a day then probably 5 days. GOLD!!
- Memory & Storage --> don't worry about the amount of memory space for your books, you can store up to 2000-3000 books for the 8GB Kindle (that's their smallest version, there's also the 16,32, and 48 GB)
- It's Waterproof --> poolside, bathtub, or even while taking a no.2.....
- Not just e-book --> you can also store audiobooks you know!
So, have I tempt you enough to go and checkout that Kindle from your Amazon Basket?😆😚😜
If you really really love to read, anywhere, anytime, anyplace
